Saturday, shortly after 5:00 pm, the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), assisted by agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration of the United States, acting on information, discovered during a search of a Haitian cargo ship, which was moored in Inagua towards Grand Bahamas, a "significant amount of cocaine"

Superintendent Jamuel Ferguson, commander of the Drug Enforcement Unit, informed that DEU officers assisted by Drug Enforcement Administration agents from the United States, acting on information, made this discovery.

He declared the discovery was "very important", but he was not yet able to say the amount of drugs seized nor his monetary value, as the agents were still unloading the drugs from the ship, specifying that "Five Haitian nationals, including the captain of the boat, were arrested and placed in police custody. We have not completed the research [...] but it is a very important amount."
