Haiti - Politic : Statement by President Moïse at the 34th ACP-EU session
Monday, at the Karibe Convention Center Hotel, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant, participated in the opening of the 34th session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly which is taking place in Port-au-Prince until December 20th 2017 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23016-haiti-politic-parliamentarians-from-more-than-106-countries-gather-in-port-au-prince.html

In his speech to the Assembly of Parliamentarians of 106 countries, Moïse said "[...] The Haitian government and people, strongly engaged in a phase of political transition dotted with pitfalls, but carrying of expectations, have gladly agreed to host the 40th Session of the ACP Assembly and the 34th Session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly to mark Haiti's commitment to strengthening and sustaining of the partnership between the European Union and European Union and the ACP Group (Africa, Caribbean, Pacific)

I congratulate the ACP-EU parliamentarians for the resolutions taken during the previous meetings to meet the expectations of our people but also to give new impetus to our efforts to face the challenges and issues related to climate change.

[...]

I promise you that Haiti will never miss an opportunity to work tirelessly in platforms and international assemblies in which development issues and issues that threaten the future of our planet will be discussed

[...]

Apart from the problems that we have not been able to solve since the Lomé Convention, the ACP countries are facing today, to the negative effects of climate change, experiencing repeated natural disasters which are destroying development efforts.

These meetings will have to discuss topics of great importance for each of our States and populations, as well as for the future of relations between the EU and the ACP Group [...]"

The President also took the opportunity to clarify, the 3 strategic axes which constitute, according to the Head of State, the fundamental pillars of the growth and the sustainable development of Haiti namely: the fight against corruption, the transparency and accountability, the fight against injustice.
