Haiti - Technology : New technologies at the service of tourism in Haiti
Colombe Émilie Jessy Menos, Minister of Tourism recently met with Patrick Attié, the Director of the School of Infotronics of Haiti (ESIH) and Marlène Sam, her collaborator on the possibilities of valuation of Haiti's tourist sites using new technologies related to virtual reality and augmented reality applications. The principles of these two computer technologies have been reviewed and their respective advantages exposed.

Patrick Attié explained to Minister Menos some of the possibilities of applying these technologies in the tourism sector such as: virtual access by simulation or computer guided tour; conservation through the modeling of sites and monuments from the plans or the dissemination on a playful form or interactive of Haitian heritage, cultural, historical and natural.

A demonstration of a virtual tour of some of the galleries of the Citadel was made to the Minister.

Thanks to the technologies and talents available, Haiti is able to create new opportunities and integrate new markets by developing virtual and augmented reality tools. Such a qualitative leap would make Haiti one of the pioneers in the Caribbean.

Minister Menos and Patrick Attié have agreed to meet again soon, to discuss of fun and entertaining applications, drawn from our folklore and our culture, to be proposed during departmental fairs planned for the second quarter of the 2017-2018 fiscal year in order to make this technology accessible to young people.
