A French citizen shot dead
On Christmas weekend, Jean Pierre Pascal Medan (53), a French citizen was shot dead in Meyer, a locality of the commune of Jacmel. According to the deputy Judge of Peace, Elie Armand, the French national was hit with several projectiles to the head.

Haiti one of the 3 worst countries in the world to do business
According to Forbes magazine's latest report, "Best Countries for Business", Haiti ranks among the 3 worst countries for doing business. Haiti is ranked 151st out of 153 countries just ahead of Gambi (152nd) and Chad 153rd last... The Dominican Republic is ranked 93rd out of 153.

Great socio-economic survey
With the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID - Haiti), the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the World Food Program (WFP) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Haiti have started a large socio-economic survey in Grand'Anse. About 90,000 families will be interviewed to complete the Information System database of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (SIMAST) and to help strengthen the social protection system in Haiti. Surveys started in the commune of Roseaux and will continue in the communes of Moron and Chambellan.
