Haiti - Elections : Mgr Guire Poulard favorable for a second round 11/02/2011 12:20:19
Mgr Guire Poulard, the new archbishop of Port-au-Prince recently appointed by Pope Benedict XVI, said he was favorable to the holding of the second round of elections on March 20. However, he asked the authorities responsible to implement the recommendations of the the report of the mission of the Organization of American States (OAS) to ensure the successful conduct of this second round, more honest and credible than the first round which was held the November 28, 2010.
The Archbishop noted that in Les Cayes, [diocese he heads again until March 26] that the population in general accepts the results of the first round and the idea of a second round. Concerning the prolongation of the mandate of the Head of State until May 14, Mgr Poulard said clearly that this decision was responding to the will of the international community.
