Haiti - Digicel : Brendon Brewster, Entrepreneur of the Year 2017
Veerhouse Voda Haiti is proud to announce that its CEO, Brendon Brewster has been awarded as Entrepreneur of the Year 2017 by Digicel, in the Construction category https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23002-haiti-economy-winners-of-the-8th-edition-digicel-entrepreneur-of-the-year-2017.html

Founded in 2012, Veerhouse Voda Haiti specializes in the design and construction of disaster-resistant buildings and economic residences through a method using expanded polystyrene (EPS), consuming less energy and offering construction 5 times shorter than traditional methods.

Brendon Brewster, PMP, CEO was born in Trinidad and Tobago. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Project Management background certified by Project Management Institute (PMI). He has spent over 16 years consulting and working with construction industry leaders on landmark projects. Brewster set up the company in New York in 2009 and realized that it is in Haiti that his company would be the most useful after 2010. "After the earthquake, we were shocked by the devastation left due to the techniques and the poor building materials available to Haitians," he says. Veerhouse Voda's proprietary methods allow construction to be completed five times faster than with traditional methods. Ideal for Haiti regarding its para-seismic qualities, its resistance to cyclones, water and fire and its exceptional insulation capacities (65 % less energy usage !) are to combine with its light weight, easy to transport and locally produced material. This construction system, widely used in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, to build schools, individual housing, offices, hospitals, commercial buildings, etc... has now been adopted by many companies and professionals. "44 buildings have been built following with our system since 2013, none damaged by any of the storms," proudly announce Brewster. Not only the system is the perfect answer to building criterias in Haiti (fast, economic, resistant) but the local factory of EPS is now fully producing, employing workers and feeding the market. Haiti, its construction system has already been used to build more than 25 projects, and 5 new ones are in progress for 2018.

The building system offered by Veehouse Voda has a great success with medical and community facilities: MSF France with its Premier Burn unit Hospital with in PAP to be built in 8 months (over 2000 square meters) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21799-haiti-health-msf-will-expand-care-center-for-severe-burns.html , MSF Belgium, with a Pharmacy in PAP region (600 square meters), NOAH with its Premier Dialysis clinic (and only one in Haiti) in Fort Liberté, school units in Plateau Central https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-21879-icihaiti-education-construction-of-5-school-infrastructures-in-21-weeks.html

Four years after the opening of its Drouillard Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) manufacturing plant, EPS sales for construction tripled in 2017, reflecting the market's interest in this lightweight and insulating material, the core of the Veerhouse Voda Haiti construction system. With these increased local manufacturing capabilities, "The Company of the Year" is on the rise for 2018.
