Haiti - ALERT : Limited navigation, abnormal waves on the North and South coasts 29/01/2018 07:48:15 The UHM explains that a large area of high pressure, located on the North Atlantic, causes a more or less dry and very windy weather on the central Caribbean. If the rain activities will be limited, the sea will be strongly agitated on the North and South coasts. The weather forecasts strong winds, abnormal waves up to 4.6 meters height and penetration of marine waters on the north coast. Therefore, the UHM, in conjunction with the SPGRD and SEMANAH, requires operators of small boats in the northern coastal zone to remain in port and those in the southern coastal area to preferably navigate near the coast and to avoid taking off. The Directorate of Civil Protection invites sailors, fishermen, cabotage operators, boaters and other users of the sea to scrupulously follow the recommended measures and to continue to learn about the marine weather. Marine weather for this Monday, January 29, 2018 : North Coastal Zone: Very strong sea with East sector winds of 25-30 knots and wave heights of 12 to 14 feet. Small boats must stay in port. Gulf of Gonâve: rough to strong sea with east sector winds of 20-25 knots and wave heights of 8 to 10 feet. Sailboats should avoid the high seas and take precautions near the coast. South Coastal Zone: Rough sea near the coast but strong offshore with East winds of 20-25 knots and wave heights of 10 to 12 feet. Small boats must be careful near the coast and avoid venturing on the high seas. HL/ S/ HaitiLibre
