Haiti - Japan : Major tripartite meeting around a rural electrification project
Aviol Fleurant, the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, had this week an important working meeting with the accredited Ambassador of Japan in Haiti Yoshiaki Hatta and Mrs. Martine Terrer the Deputy Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Haiti (UNDP-Haiti)

Discussions focused on three projects drafted by UNDP in consultation with the relevant sectorial ministries on: rural electrification, preparation for major natural hazards and solid waste management.

Among these 3 projects, that of rural electrification has particularly attracted the attention of Minister Fleurant, the strengthening of the electricity network in Haiti is one of the priorities of President Moïse and he expressed the wish that this project could be carried out on a period of 18 months.

At the end of the meeting after many fruitful discussions, Fleurant asked Ms. Martine Terrer to send him a technical note for each of these projects, especially the rural electrification explaining all the constraints that could prevent completion of this project within the desired timeframe.

n addition, Minister Fleurant has decided to put at the disposal of the UNDP, of executives of his Ministry to work in an accelerated manner to the implementation of these projects which after adoption by the Haitian Government, will be financed by Japan.
