Haiti - Iron Market : KRIFA questions the responsibility of the State for the fire !

Following the fire of the Iron Market on the night from Monday to Tuesday, February 13, 2018 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23556-haiti-flash-the-iron-market-ravaged-by-a-fire.html Kri Fanm Ayiti (KRIFA), an activist organization fighting for the Rights of Women in Haiti, in a note signed by its Coordinator General Guerlyne Residor, "[...] intends to question the responsibility of the State, that a market of this size can not not have guards that can intervene quickly to prevent as much material damage. This market is located in the heart of the city center [...] How to explain that firefighters could not intervene in time to avoid such a tragedy ?"

KRIFA despite several official statements declaring the opening of an investigation, doubts that justice is rendered to the victims in this fire, which it considers to be of criminal origin "[...] we know that no investigation will be conducted in order to seek and punish the perpetrators of this crime. We also know that even if this investigation is carried out, it will continue without being able to succeed and these merchants will never find justice and reparations since in most cases the intellectual authors of these acts have a kind of control over the judicial system [...] "

Yet, despite its doubts, KRIFA claims justice "[...] we ask the Commissioner of Government to put the public action in motion to find these criminals and put them behind the locks. We also ask that the State take its responsibilities and compensate the victims of this fire so that they can not only pay their debts but also continue to carry out their activities and send their children to school [...] 'Nou se Fanm, nous se machann'. Aba impunity! Long live to justice and Haiti !"
