Haiti - Politic : Moïse decorates of the National Order the Nobel Wole Soyinka

Tuesday at the National Palace, President Moïse, accompanied by his wife Martine in the presence among others Ministers Josué Agénor Cadet (Education) and Limond Toussaint (Culture), of his advisers, of d Josué Director General of the National Bureau of Ethnology, of university professors and writers, offered a welcome cocktail in honor of Nigerian writer and activist Wole Soyinka (83) Nobel Prize of Literature and key actor of the radiation of thought and black literature.

The Head of State welcomed the visit to Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23593-haiti-literature-the-nigerian-nobel-prize-wole-soyinka-expected-in-haiti.html of the first black author to receive the Nobel Prize of Literature stressing "This visit is a significant symbol of the unbreakable historical ties that unite Haiti and Africa," before transmitting to Wole Soyinka all the respect and affection of the Haitian people.

"You insist on the greatness and dignity of Africa by drawing on a model of society that our ancestors had already experienced. Your respect for African history and traditions has never stopped you from dreaming of democracy and modernity for the black peoples of the world," said Moïse, referring to the tragedy of the ancestors "in the holds of the boats, in pain nameless on the cane fields, in the servitude of slavery, in the entreaty of foreign gods, and in the blind fascination still vowed today to the executioners."

As part of this ceremony, Moses thanked the "Laboratorio Contemporary Arts" who facilitated the meeting between Haiti and Wole Soyinka https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23593-haiti-literature-the-nigerian-nobel-prize-wole-soyinka-expected-in-haiti.html . After the cocktail, as a sign of recognition President Moïse appointed Wolé Soyinka Goodwill Ambassador and awarded him the National Order of Honor and Merit to the rank of Commander.
