Haiti - Diplomacy : A new Dominican consul in Haiti, with a troubled past 21/02/2018 07:52:21 Clodomiro Pérez Montero has been appointed Consul General at the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in Port-au-Prince to replace Ramón de la Rosa and Francisco Gustavo Lembert Canó has been appointed Consul at the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in Cap-Haïtien to replace Esteban Antonio Cruz. While through the decree 79-18 Máximo Feliz Terrero, was appointed consul in Belladère to replace Andrés Bocio Fortuna who was moved as Consul to Anse-à-Pitre to replace Máximo Feliz Terrero. Esteban Cruz becomes adviser to Ounaminthe replacing Arturo Ortiz. The nomination of Andrés Boció Fortuna provoked many comments in the Dominican political circles and media because of the troubled past of Fortuna, accused in 2007 of human trafficking and the sale of counterfeit visas to allow the illegal entry of people into Dominican Republic following an investigation by the Dominican Foreign Ministry under the Government of President Leonel Fernández and dismissed from his consular post in Haiti. Despite this past, Fortuna was subsequently appointed in 2014 Consul in Béladère by President Medina, declaring at the time to the press that pointed to his troubled past, that he was innocent of the accusations made against him in 2007 and that he relied on the judgment of public opinion... His transfer to Anse-à-Pitre in the context of consular rotations perplexed more than one observer. HL/ HaitiLibre
