Haiti - Politic : The mayors of the country require the revocation of Minister Fleurant
Following the decision of the Minister of Planning Aviol Fleurant, to grant to the Parliamentarians and Boards of Directors of Communal Sections (CASECs), the full power of management of communal funds allocated to municipalities, mayors met Friday, February 23 in Extraordinary Assembly.

The mayors, visibly frustrated, making hostile remarks against the Government unanimously adopted a resolution on many of their demands at the end of this overheated Assembly, a resolution on several of their demands, whose the two main ones are the immediate transfer to the account of the town halls of the 5 months of delay of allocation and in order to restore the harmony between the central power and the local authorities, the revocation before the 5th of March of the Minister Fleurant, whom they accuse to act under the orders of the parliamentarians.

The mayors ask the National Federation of Mayors of Haiti (FENAMH) "to take all necessary measures to enforce this resolution. Accusing the authorities of being responsible for the bad relations between mayors, CASECs and parliamentarians and enslaving municipalities by rendering them non-functional by preventing them from meeting the needs of their population.

If they do not obtain satisfaction, they threaten to mobilize and move to other means of demands, not excluding the closing of the doors of all the city halls of Haiti...

For Jude Édouard Pierre, the President of the FENAMH, the Government must step back and immediately return to this decision that excludes the main mayors responsible for the development of the commune.
