Haiti - Education : Changes envisaged in the new secondary
Friday, Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, Minister of National Education with partners in the sector held a working session around the changes envisaged by the Ministry in the implementation of the renovated secondary, following some problems noted during the pilot experiment in the schools involved.

In particular, was discussed the issue of time allocation by subject in the different courses for better harmonization of learning time; planned evaluations at the end of the cycle and the number of compulsory subjects at final evaluations at the end of the cycle. Thus, the number of subjects will be considerably reduced to exams passing from probably 14 to 9.

The disciplines withdrawn from the passing exams at the end of the cycle will be evaluated in previous years and counted in the final grades.

Minister Cadet hailed the collaboration of the various actors for the planned changes which should facilitate the implementation of this reform of secondary education. Participants appreciated this series of consultations, which will provide the necessary corrections to the problems encountered in the implementation of this important reform.

The Ministry promises to make known all the changes to the population through a ministerial circular and through the press.
