Friday, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant, Ministers Fritz Caillot (Public Works) and and Stéphanie Auguste (Social Affairs ai), of Deputies Wilner Jean (Croix-des-Bouquets), Caleb Desrameaux (Tabarre ) and Patrick Norzeus (Baraderes / Grand Boucan), US Ambassador Michèle J. Sison, representatives from the private sector and Haitian Civil Society, paid a visit to the construction sites in the Zone Franche Santo Dujour (ZFSD), created by decree on September 8, 2016 https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-18566-icihaiti-economy-towards-the-establishment-of-3-new-free-zones-in-haiti.html

The businessman André Apaid, representing the free zone said he was honored by the visit of the Head of State who came to support this private initiative, while underlining the importance and the risks of such an investment in the country.

Apaid accompanied Moïse and his delegation for a visit of 10,000 m2 under construction in the ZFSD which should eventually allow the creation of 10,000 new jobs.

The Head of State, reaffirmed that Haiti needed a locomotive to find the path of growth, saying that the Free Zones were the assets needed to promote economic diversification and job creation that the country has much needed.

Regarding the support of the Government, he said that the State should accompany the private sector "The construction of the road giving access to the Park goes hand in hand with the construction of the Santo Dujour free zone. The Haitian state must accompany the population but also the private sector."

The Free Zone Santo Dujour is located in Santo 19, residence Dujour, in the 2nd communal section Varreux (Croix-des-Bouquets). With an area of 231,000 m2 including 129,000 m2 for construction and 60,000 m2 for factories.
