1st Caribbean Forum
From March 18 to 21, Cap Haitien is the host city of the 1st edition of the Caribbean community radio forum on building resilience to natural disasters, an initiative of the Directorate of Civil Protection (CPD) and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP-Haiti). Community radio representatives from several countries: Haiti, Dominican Republic, Dominica, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Barbados and the United States gathered at Hotel Satama to share their experiences in the mobilization of radios, indispensable social communication media in Prevention and response to risks of major natural hazards. "This forum should allow us to draw together lessons from recent hurricanes and strengthen regional links in the field of community broadcasting," said Yvonne Helle, UNDP Haiti Country Director.
