Group INFORM has published its global risk index "INFORM Global Risk Index for 2018" a tool to understand, measure and analyze the risks of disasters and humanitarian crises of 191 countries. In this index, Haiti in terms of risk, is ranked 14th globally and 1st in the TOP 10 of the Latin America and Caribbean Region (LAC). The Dominican Republic is ranked 85th at the world level and 10th exequo with Bolivia in the TOP 10 of the LAC region.

In general, there are no significant changes in risk conditions for countries in the Latin America and Caribbean region between 2017 and 2018. The same 10 countries appear in the high and very high risk categories.

Countries with a very high risk level of disasters and humanitarian crises are Guatemala: risk 5.3 (33rd in the world), Haiti risk 6.3 (14th) and Honduras risk 4.7 (53rd).

Countries with a high level of risk are Bolivia: risk 3.9 (85th); Colombia: risk 5.4 (29th); the Dominican Republic: risk 3.9 (85th) ; Ecuador: risk 4.2 (68th); El Salvador: risk 4.1 (74th); Mexico: risk 4.8 (51e); Nicaragua: risk 4.1 (74th); Peru: risk 4.2 (68th) and Venezuela: risk 4.4 (61st).
