Haiti - Education : Positive meeting between the Ministry of Education and the unions
Thursday at the Ministry's general inspection office in Musseau, Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education, accompanied by Delima Pierre Director General of the National Office for Partnership in Education (ONAPE) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14245-haiti-education-launch-of-the-national-office-for-learning-partnership.html and several Ministry officials held a working meeting with several union leaders.

The 2017-2027 Ten-Year Plan, the main actions of Minister Cadet during his first year, the burning issues concerning the management of human resources, the appointment of teachers, the payment of salaries, state examinations, the fight against corruption within the Ministry are among the main issues discussed during this meeting.

The Minister stressed the importance of the dialogue with the social partners and the need to work with the unions to face the challenges of the sector and to provide elements of response to the problems that affect the proper functioning of the education system, recalling that the contribution of each partner is essential for the smooth running of the Haitian school and the renewal of the sector.

Recalling that while progress has been made in the first year of his administration, he acknowledged that there is still a lot of things waiting that require the involvement of all.

Union leaders shared their concerns about some issues related to the management of the sector and made several proposals to correct certain abuses.

Director Pierre Delima, who chaired this meeting, said it was a first step in several meetings scheduled with the social partners to address together the major issues of the education sector, which ONAPE by its mission is called to drive.

As early as next week, unions should again meet with ONAPE around the Ten-Year Education and Training Plan (PDEF) and Ministry / Trade Union Commissions to implement, an initiative of the Minister and a well-received agenda by union officials.
