Haiti - Sport : Basketball JumpStart NBA Digicel 2018 10/04/2018 10:37:03 Now in its fourth year, the Digicel NBA Jumpstart Basketball Programme, is expected to train over 430 youth participants, aged between 12 to 16 years, from nine countries across the Caribbean including Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago and the Turks and Caicos Islands. "Coming off the overwhelming success of previous years, we’ve expanded this year’s programme to include participants from nine countries in two age categories – and we’re excited about the response to our online registration," said Maarten Boute, the chairman of Digicel Haiti. "This is testament to the level of enthusiasm from these youngsters who are hungry to learn how they can take their game to the next level, and Digicel is happy to make their hoop dreams come true." To complete the first of four phases in the programme, the selected participants in each country will be contacted by their local Basketball Federation inviting them to participate in the try-outs to secure their spot in the official camps which will run from April and May. Seventy two lucky successful boys and girls from each country will move on to the official camps (with the exception of Anguilla, Montserrat and St. Kitts and Nevis, which will each see four participants joining up with camps in other countries). Let's recall that Digicel and the NBA signed a multiyear partnership in 2015 to deliver live games and extensive NBA programming to more than 25 Caribbean territories through SportsMax and the PlayGo app – making Digicel the Official Communications Partner of the NBA in the region. And with the regular season coming to an end, Digicel is inviting everyone to catch all the live action now in the lead up to the 2018 NBA Playoffs. HL/ BF/ HaitiLibre
