The 8th Summit of the Americas (April 13-14) opened Friday in Lima, Peru, in the presence of President Jovenel Moïse and the main heads of state and government of the continent.

Before the opening, Moïse took the opportunity to hold several bilateral and multilateral meetings with important partners and members of the Caribbean community.

He met with US Secretary of State John Sullivan on strengthening cooperation between the two countries "This meeting was very productive and I am willing to work more closely with Mr. Sullivan" said Moïse.

He exchanged with several members of the community with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on new areas of cooperation and the challenges in the Caribbean. They opted for a partnership based on mutual respect and consultation in decisions.

For his part, the Haitian Chancellor Antonio Rodrigue, met the partners of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to better articulate the interests of Haiti in the context of the 8th Summit.

Before going to the Grand National Theater in Lima where the Opening Ceremony of the Summit was held, Moses had a warm exchange with his counterpart President Martín Vizcarra of Peru where the two men reiterated their desire to collaborate in strengthening the relations between the two countries.

Subsequently, at the invitation of the President of Peru and his wife, the Heads of State and Government attended a dinner at the Government Palace.
