Haiti - Security : The DPC at the 9th Meeting of the Committee of the Caribbean Agency for Emergency Management

Jerry Chandler, Director of the Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC), represents Haiti at the 9th Meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), which is held from 16 to 20 April in Barbados.

This Regional Meeting aims to strengthen the capacity of national risk management organizations in leadership development, as well as financial management and reporting. National delegates will meet behind closes door on Wednesday, 18 April, while the technical discussions will be held the following day between the participating States and the specialized regional institutions.

Accompanied by another DPC executive, Chandler participates in these assizes at a time when Haiti is assuming the rotating presidency of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and working to strengthen its resilience to disasters.

Let's point out that the Technical Advisory Committee is the technical and programmatic advisory body of CDEMA. It takes into account the integrated approach to the management of major natural hazards and the central role of the contribution of stakeholders to the programming process of the Global Disaster Management Agenda.

This body of the CDEMA within CARICOM, brings together the coordinators of national risk management organizations and representatives of regional organizations specialized in areas such as technology, meteorology and seismology and whose programs are directly linked to the regional risk management agenda.
