Haiti - Quebec : Program to improve the quality of the degree in psycho-education

Professor Claudine Jacques of the Department of Psycho-Education and Psychology at the University of Quebec in Outaouais (UQO) and Mélanie Poitras, co-investigator doctoral student are in the second stage of a collaboration between UQO and the State University of Haiti (UEH) for the establishment of a program to improve the quality of the degree in Psycho-education.

Let's recall that in spring 2017, as part of the "Québec-Haiti Cooperation", a grant from the Ministry of International Relations and La Francophonie had helped to support the deployment of internships for Haitian students in psycho-education in collaboration with the various actors of the UEH.

The Program for the Improvement of Training in Psycho-Education at the UEH will be deployed in 2018 and 2019 with financial support from the University Francophone Agency (AUF) within the framework of "Support for university solidarity projects in the Americas" It will include actors from four universities (UQO, UEH, University of Montreal and University of Guyana) and experienced Quebec psycho-educators.

In addition to providing practical training support as in the first year of the project, it will be possible to contribute to the improvement of theoretical training in psycho-education for seven weeks. All ingredients are therefore put in place to ensure the sustainability of the new program at the UEH. This collaboration between Professor Jacques and various Haitian partners has solid foundations considering the previous projects developed in partnership since already 2015.
