Haiti - Security : The metropolitan area under surveillance of drones and cameras !
Ronsard Saint-Cyr, the Secretary of State for Public Security announced the means that are and will be used to secure the metropolitan area. He indicates that the National Police of Haiti (PNH) has already covered a good part of Port-au-Prince with 17 cameras of video-surveillance [!], Adding that besides the capital, of cameras have been installed in Pétion-ville specifying "Some are already activated and others will be activated in the next few days. The idea is that all these cameras are channeled into a single control center," as does Delmas, which has a real video surveillance network with more than 300 cameras https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19956-haiti-security-surveillance-cameras-in-delmas-positive-results.html

He also revealed that the PNH had begun patrolling with drones in the area, which have already allowed several arrests from the images taken by these drones. However, he specifies that for the moment, the PNH has only 4 drones, but he ensures that others will be bought. He hopes with the use of the new technologies to be able to cover all the important axes of the metropolitan area and to ensure the safety of the population...

In addition, he announced that the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN) was working on a security plan for the summer vacation period ensuring that arrangements have already been made for the "Welcome to Haiti" Pilot Operation.

It should be remembered that this 90-day pilot operation aims to reduce the number of attacks and passenger thefts in areas near the Toussaint Louverture International Airport by at least 80%. Throughout the duration of Operation "Welcome to Haiti", all motorcycles will be prohibited from circulating around the Airport up to Gérald Bataille, including the areas around the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police. In addition, more frequent checks will now be made in and around the airport. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24009-haiti-flash-the-pnh-launches-the-protection-operation-welcome-to-haiti.html Assuring that these provisions will be strengthened because the country expects many compatriots of the diaspora during this period.

Let's hope that these surveillance cameras will rapidly increase in Port-au-Prince, because with 17 cameras, one can hardly talk of monitoring of a good part of the capital... as stated by the Secretary of State Saint-Cyr...
