The Dominican Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources has retained at the customs of Jimaní, a truck registered L21 5431 from Haiti, loaded with plastic bottles waste that wanted to enter the Dominican territory to Santiago for the plastic recycling, but did not have the necessary permits and documents.

In a letter to Marcos Rodríguez, Customs Director of the Province of Independencia, Nelson Cuevas, head of the Provincial Department of the Environment of that province, requested that the truck be returned to Haiti as soon as possible.

The Dominican Ministry of Environment has indicated that investigations are carried out on the spot in accordance with the Environmental and Natural Resources Law 64-00, which regulates the transport of substances and materials that may endanger health and the environment...

The Dominican authorities remain vigilant in this case, in order to prevent other similar situations from being repeated.
