The 5th meeting of the Interim Haiti Reconstruction Commission (IHRC) was an opportunity, Monday, for the secretariat of the Haiti Reconstruction Fund (HRF) to make a presentation on the secretariat's activities and on the performance of the process for approving grants. IDB, World Bank and UN have made presentations on the activities of the projects they are responsible.

"We have decided on four projects submitted by the IHRC, there are two that were accepted without qualification : a support project to rebuild homes and a plan of response to earthquake in the great North of Haiti. Two other projects were accepted under reserve of designation by the IHRC of the partner entities" said Ronald Beaudin, President of the Steering Committee of the HRF and Minister of Economy and Finance of Haiti.

"The the IHRC is not a fund [...] is a body that receives projects, analysis, checks their suitability to the plan that was presented in New York, approved them and research the funding. The HRF is an instruments available to the IHRC, where it can find funding. The Haiti Reconstruction Fund is trust fund domiciled at the World Bank, where donors make their contributions. [...] the fund has received contributions totaling 329.3 million dollars" advised the Minister Beaudin, who has clarified "It is only a small proportion of the projects approved by the the IHRC, that are funded by the HRF, some others projects are funded by bilateral agreements and by various organizations, for more than one billion dollars".

"The HRF has funded 15 projects totaling $188 million, including a project of $68 million, for the collection of debris" said Joseph Léitman, administrator of the HRF "$65 million approved by the fund are allocated for housing construction". According to Mr. Léitman, 396 "carreaux" of land are already available to accommodate these homes of all social categories.

Ronald Beaudin explained that "140 carreaux are located in the area of Gressier, 200 carreaux at the bottom of the morne à Cabrit, 50 at the exit north of Port-au-Prince and a parcel in the town of Tabarre".
