The Justice and Peace Episcopal Commission (JILAP) notes that for several weeks, insecurity and tension has been increasing in the metropolitan area.

JILAP reports that from June 1 to 18, 2018, 46 people died by bullets (37 in Port-au-Prince, Martissant and Delmas, 4 in Croix-des-Bouquets and 5 in Carrefour).

The Episcopal Commission attributes this recrudescence of insecurity to the trivialization of violence and the laxity of government authorities.
