Haiti - Diaspora : A district of New York City officially named «Little Haïti» 04/07/2018 08:00:41 This decision of the City of New York, June 28, follows the many steps taken by the Deputy Rodneyse Bichotte, the first Haitian-American to be elected to the Assembly of the State of New York, in order to honor the Haitian community for its participation in the development of this city. Specifically, "Little Haiti" is an area located on large portions of Flatbush and Nostrand Avenues from Parkside Avenue to H Present Avenue. In addition, Daniel Supplice the former Minister of the diaspora, present at this proclamation indicated that Avenues Rogers and Nostrand will be renamed respectively Jean-Jacques Dessalines and Toussaint Louverture. For Rodneyse Bichotte "This step is only the first of a process that will bring revitalization to our neighborhoods and our businesses [...] I consider this decision of the City Council as a direct challenge to the fanaticism of the White House towards communities such as the Haitian diaspora, and I thank the council for its solidarity." Guy André Junior François the current Minister of Haitians Living Abroad welcomes the victory of the Haitian community in Brooklyn and takes the opportunity to thank the Deputy Bichotte for his efforts to promote the image of Haiti.
