Haiti - Social : A new house for the oldest woman of Haiti

Bénicia Souffrant, better known under the name "Madan Janba" who would have turned 126 (last June 24th), will live the rest of her life in her new and comfortable house, in the locality of Moyette (8th communal section of Petit-Goâve) built thanks to the generosity of Quisqueya University.

Powered by a solar system, its new house includes a large room, two bedrooms, a kitchen, a warehouse, two galleries, a shower equipped with all modern comforts and a water tank.

Now, it is there that "Madan Janba" will spend her old days after the Quisqueya University committed

in April 2018 to support her all her life https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23907-haiti-social-big-visit-to-the-oldest-woman-of-haiti-125-years.html . To this end, Quisqueya University has hired two women from the area whose main tasks are to provide care and support to the Dean of Haiti. In addition, each month, Quisqueya University issues a check for the maintenance, feeding, care and payment of the employees who take care of her. It should be noted that the usual mode of feeding of "Madan Janba" is respected scrupulously. The University has not changed the eating habits and habits of this old lady and is only providing her the means to have a better life.

At the blessing of his new home more than a hundred people including the faithful of St. Gerard parish of the 8th section, the representatives of Quisqueya University, the local authorities (members of the Town Hall of Petit Goave, the CASEC and ASEC, relatives, friends and relatives of the family, gathered in the presence of the parish priest of Reverend Father Jude who asked God to cover the Quisqueya University of his blessings for this charitable and philanthropic work before sprinkling the house with holy water.

As part of the patronal feast of Moyette "Madan Janba" attended the Mass and received the sacrament of the Eucharist.

Recall that currently, the oldest woman in the world (119 years) whose age has been established and officially recognized by the international authorities, is Italian and is called Emma Morano (born November 29, 1899). If the age of "Madan Janba" is established and officially recognized, she will become the doyenne of humanity.
