Haiti - DR : Drop in binational trade 17/07/2018 09:27:16
According to the Dominican Republic's Export and Investment Center (CEI-RD), which uses the Directorate General of Customs (DGA) as a source, Dominican exports to Haiti fell by $216 million (-20%) over 5 years (2013-2017), from 1.070 billion to 854 million, even if in 2017 exports were up almost 7% compared to the previous year (799 million in 2016 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24724-haiti-economy-dr-increases-exports-to-haiti.html ).
During the same period, imports from Haiti also declined by $ 33 million (-47%) from $69 million to $36 million.
In 2018, the trend seems to be continuing to decline. For the first five months of this year, exports to Haiti amounted amounted 349 million, or 17 million less than the same period last year where the exports to Haiti amounted to 366 million.
