Haiti - Politic : A reason to hope for the disabled

In a regular meeting held on July 24 in the lower house, the deputies voted the draft law on the establishment, organization and functioning of the National Solidarity Fund for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (FSNIPH) presented by the Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Labor and Family by 61 votes in favor, 0 against and 5 abstentions.

Voting on this bill is a real hope for people with reduced mobility, as the main task of the FSNIPH is to guarantee the right of this category of citizens to protection against poverty and social exclusion, by making available a support fund for this population in order to contribute to its autonomy and its socio-economic development.

Gerald Oriol Jr, the Secretary of State for the Integration of Disabled People welcomed this vote "I welcome the vote of the deputies [...] When it has been voted in the Senate and published in the Official Journal, this law will mark a remarkable step towards the establishment of a more just, humane and more egalitarian Haiti."
