Haiti - Minustah : Latin America forms a dialogue commission
The Defence Council of South America (CDS), an agency of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) held a meeting Thursday in Montevideo in the Training Centre for Regional Integration (CEFIR), were present the defense ministers from 12 countries of the South American continent, and Luis Almagro, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay and its counterpart from Argentina Héctor Timerman.

At this meeting it was decided to form a dialogue commission composed of six countries (Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Colombia), whose mission will be to gather opinions of the haitian society about the Stabilization Mission in United Nations (Minustah). The commission will meet with the new Haitian authorities, after the final results of the elections of March 20.

Once the information gathered by the dialogue commission, the members of the Defence Council of South America (CDS) will meet once again to determine their own decisions in the future of the Minsutah in Haiti.

Luis Rosadilla, Minister of Defense of Uruguay said that all countries that have troops in Haiti need to exchange ideas, experiences and its expectations, since a change of government is fast approaching which "means a turning point in this process".
