Haiti - Environment : Distribution of 37 garbage trucks
Thursday President Jovenel Moïse delivered 37 compressive trucks intended for the collection of garbage out of 58, to the heads of several town halls "In accordance with my promise to accompany the municipalities, I am currently distributing 37 compressives to Town halls of the country to better deal with the problems of insalubrity facing our cities," declared for the occasion the Head of State.

The ceremony held at the Street de la République, in front of the main entrance of the National Palace, brought together various members of the resigned government, the Haut-Etat-major of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H), the high command of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and mayors grouped around the National Federation of Mayors of Haiti (FENAMH).

The President of the FENAMH, the mayor of Carrefour, Jude Edouard Pierre, welcomed the initiative of the Head of State to support the efforts of town halls who can not meet, due to their meager budgets, the many requirements, including those related to the fight against the degradation of the urban environment.

"It's a great gesture of the Head of State. We thank him and promise to support him in these kinds of initiatives aimed at the development of local and regional authorities," said Mayor Jude Edouard Pierre, along with several of his colleagues, including Mayor Frantz Ulysse (Saint-Marc), the Mayor Gesner Dieudonné (Limonade) and Mayor Rebecaline Ziky Decelmont (Acul-du-Nord) also Secretary General of FENAMH.

For the benefiting mayors, this action is a first in the history of many communes in the country and took the opportunity to invite other communes not yet a recipient of compression trucks to be patient and to stand in solidarity with the President's efforts..

Moïse believes that support for local authorities is starting to reach its cruising speed. While acknowledging the lack of resources of the town halls to obtain materials necessary for the removal of garbage, he invites them to accompany this aid, with rigorous measures to push the citizens to play their roles by demonstrating civility and respect for their environment.
