Haiti - Politic : Denial of the Ministry of Economy

Following the statements of the Deputy of Cerca Carvajal Antoine Rodon Bien Aimé (who says that every Friday the Ministry of Economy disburses under the Caravan of Change 11 million Gourdes as "per diem" for the benefit of the Head of the State (an information used on social networks and some Haitian media), the Ministry of Finance in a note formally denies this false information.

"[...] The Ministry of Economy and Finance is not used to reacting to any rumors or whimsical statements. However, it is important to remember that the caravan of change is a strategy [and not a program] advocated by the President to bring the state closer to the people by providing them with basic services and giving them the appropriate tools for the development of its environment [...] The expenditure made to make this strategy operational have never been carried out for the benefit of a natural person and even less for the benefit of the President of the Republic.

They have been through state structures and for the benefit of the population. Therefore, the rumor that suggest that the President of the Republic would have received from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, 11 million gourdes every Friday as "per diem" in the context of the caravan of change, has no basis.

As a reminder, the expenditures made by the public sector during the 2017-2018 fiscal year will be submitted to Parliament for analysis through the Draft Regulation Act."
