Haiti - Social : Passing of Michaëlle Amédée Gédéon 23/08/2018 08:08:09 Raised in 2015 to the grade of "Doctor Honoris Causa" by the Royal University of Haiti. Graduate of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy (1969-1975), had a Masters in Public Health from Harvard University in the United States of America (1982 -1983). President of the Red Cross for 12 years, she was the second woman to hold this position after Marie-José Innocent. Messages of condolence : Dr. Guiteau Jean-Pierre, President of the National Society of the Haitian Red Cross : "The Governing Council of the National Society of the Haitian Red Cross has learned with great sadness the news of the death of Dr. Michaëlle Amédée Gédéon [...] Dr. Gédéon will remain in the memory of the Red Cross Movement in Haiti as the first President elected by the General Assembly of the Haitian Red Cross, in accordance with the new statutes of the National Society currently in force. She was also an elected member of the Federation's Board of Management during her second term. Today, with this incalculable loss, the Haitian Red Cross mourns the departure of a former President who has shaped the destiny of the National Society and who will remain, in our memory, a volunteer and humanist, always attached to the values and Fundamental Principles so dear to our humanitarian commitment to the most vulnerable communities. The Board of Governors, the Staff and the Volunteers will remain wholeheartedly and in thought alongside the close family of the deceased, her Husband and her children to testify of our recognition of always to her and to express to them our condolences and deep regret in this painful circumstance.
