Haiti - Diaspora : Reduction of the direct flights of American Airlines, the MHAVE precise
Following the decision of American Airlines to reduce from 6 to 4, its flights to Haiti (3 daily direct flights from Miami to Port-au-Prince and 1 daily flight to Cap-Haïtien) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25311-haiti-flash-american-airlines-remove-two-direct-flights-to-port-au-prince.html , the Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) informs compatriots of the diaspora that it will no longer be possible with American Airlines, to reach the Toussaint Louverture airport by direct flight from Fort Lauderdale and New York, from November 3, 2018.
Moreover, the MHAVE wishes to reassure citizens of the diaspora in general and American Airlines users in particular "that the decision of this company to proceed to the cut of 2 flights is not a decision directed against the country and the Haitians. Haiti is not the only country affected. This decision is justified, according to the director of communication of the American Airlines, by judicious economic measures being applied to the company.
The MHAVE understands very well the turmoil caused by this news in the Haitian communities of Florida and New York used to travel to Haiti from the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International and John F. Kennedy airports."
