Haiti - FLASH : Haitians need a guarantor to obtain a Dominican tourist visa

Although the goal of the Dominican Republic is to reach 10 million tourists a year, goals that get closer every month, all foreign visitors can not enter the Dominican territory without a visa.

Recall that the authorities grant visas to applicants in consular offices in different countries, fulfilling a series of conditions, similar to those required in other countries. Tourist visas are granted for travel, cultural activities, participation in conferences or congresses, these are 60 days and may concern one or more entrances. One of the basic requirements is that tourists can not work in the Dominican Republic with this type of visa, because there are other types of visa, single or multiple, student, visa of multiple dependence, residence, diplomatic, official and simple courtesy, as well as visa-free entry facilities.

However, the Dominican Republic considers 10 countries as "migratory threats" of which Haiti is a part Cuba, Beijing, Hong Kong, India, Haiti, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and Iraq.

For citizens of these 10 countries a letter from a guarantor is required to obtain a tourist visa.

This letter of guarantee, is the commitment made by a person to guarantee (in the case of Haiti), that the Haitian beneficiary, tourist visa applicant, will not remain in the Dominican Republic for longer than the time granted on the visa. . This letter must include, among other things, the following undertaking: "I am morally and economically responsible for the return to his country of origin of (name of the person), and to reimburse to the Dominican State all expenses incurred by that person from his repatriation or expulsion". It must also be noted in this letter that the VISA recipient will not request residency or a change of migratory status from Dominican territory and will devote himself exclusively to the activity for which the visa has been granted.

This letter must be notarized and legalized at the Office of the Attorney General and presented by the applicant with the other documents on the day of his interview at the Dominican consulate for his VISA tourist application.

In addition to this letter for obtaining a tourist visa, the applicant must write a letter of visa application (without notary), with his personal data, nationality, place of residence the purpose of his trip and the economic means available to it that it must prove for example with one of the following documents: bank letter, savings account, passbook, current account, bank certificates or working letter with date of admission, position held and salary earned among others...
