Haiti - FLASH : Earthquake in Gonaïves 06/09/2018 08:27:53
On Wednesday, September 5, 2018, an earthquake of magnitude 3.1 on the Richter scale was recorded at 9:44 am, in Gonaïves (Dept. l'Artibonite), according to the bulletin issued by the Technical Unit of Seismology (UTS) of the Bureau des Mines and Energy (BME).
The epicenter of this weak earthquake was located at sea, 17.79 km, west of the Cité de l'Indépendance. No damage was reported. UTS recalls that seismic activities occur from time to time in various parts of Haiti.

The geologist-engineer Claude Prépetit, BME's Director General, urges the Haitian State to take real measures to limit the damage and loss of life in the event of a powerful earthquake such as that of 12 January 2010.
