Haiti - Security : The Civil Protection in schools

On Friday, a delegation of brigadiers of the Departmental Civil Protection of the North went to the Simone de Beauvoir Girls College of Cap-Haitien, to inaugurate a series of activities to raise awareness of major risks.

Guito François, Chief of the Civil Protection Brigade at the departmental level, moderated a session on hydro-meteorological hazards, including tropical storms and hurricanes for 150 students. He also explained to the participants the importance of learning the saving actions to be able to carry first aid especially within the family and the school.

The discussions were followed by a demonstration and application of first aid gestures in which the students participated with a lot of interest.

This information session, which was supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), is the first of a series of civil protection activities targeting schools throughout the country. Talks, film screenings on the risks, simulations, training but also training workshops on various topics, including the introduction to disaster risk management in schools, are scheduled for this academic year.
