Haiti - Politic : End of a mission of Expertise France in Haiti

Within the framework of "Urbayiti" a program of support to the urban sector of the Haitian Government co-financed by the European Union and France, Nicolas Chenet, Director of the sustainable development department and Camille Le Jean, project manager of Expertise France, completed Saturday a mission of 5 days in Haiti.

Let's remember that Expertise France supports urban governance at the local and national level and coordinates the entire Urbayiti program, whose approach is multi-institutional (ST-CIAT, MICT, MTPTC, Town Halls of Port-au-Prince, Jérémie and Les Cayes in particular).

During their mission, Nicolas Chenet and Camille Le Jean met Youri Chevry the Mayor of Port-au-Prince and Ruthlande Langlade the Director of Territorial Communities of the Ministry of the Interior in order to plan activities and discuss implementation issues and confirm the mobilization of Expertise France to support the Haitian Government in its various projects of state reforms or modernization of public sectors.

They also met Edouard Excellent, Coordinator in the Office of the National Authorizing Officer of the European Development Fund, the Delegation of the European Union as well as the technical and financial partners involved in the sector of sustainable development.

This mission also coincides with the start of the second phase of the "State Building Contract" project, a project funded by the European Union which aims to continue the reforms of the Haitian administration in terms of resource mobilization, strengthening of the local governance and financial governance in the education sector. To support the implementation of this project four long term experts will be deployed in Haitian administrations.

It should be remembered that the Superior Court of Accounts and Administrative Litigation (CSC/CA) also benefited this year from support in terms of financial governance. As such, the French Court of Auditors through the mobilization of senior public officials has been able to provide strategic advice and assist the institution in its modernization process. This first phase was funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the World Bank and focused on clarifying the mandate and strengthening the main critical services of the Court. A workshop on the draft organic law was organized last December to reflect and discuss the text, it brought together representatives of State powers, legal professionals and national control institutions.
