Haiti - Martinique : 415,000 euros for the extension of the park of solar streetlights in the Region of Palmes
Yesterday Friday at the French Embassy in Port-au-Prince, an Operational Convention on the extension and harmonization of the solar streetlights park in the Region of Palmes, was signed by Jean Samson Limongy, Mayor of Petit-Goâve and President of the Community of Municipalities of the Region of Palmes (CMRP) and Mrs. Catherine Granel, Representative of Athanase Jeanne-Rose, President of the Community of Agglomeration of Central Martinique (CACEM) and Head of Decentralized Cooperation and Marc Charret, Representative of Électriciens Aans Frontières (ESF) in the presence of the Ambassador of France in Haiti, José Gomez and Cheikh Dia Deputy Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Haiti.

The signing of this agreement will thus allow the official launch of the extension and harmonization of the solar street lamp park in the communes of Gressier, Léogâne, Grand-Goâve and Petit-Goâve. The agreement also provides for the organization of training for the benefit of technicians from all the partner communes, in order to enable them to maintain the facilities.

This agreement, amounting 415,000 Euros, is co-financed by AFD, CACEM, the Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) and the Regional Cooperation Fund (FCR), the CMRP and the Territorial Collective of Martinique.

The financial instrument mobilized by AFD for this project is the Financement des Collectivités françaises (FICOL). This financing mode, the first of its kind in Haiti, will serve as a basis for future files under investigation.

Ambassador Gomez welcomed the signing of this convention, which illustrates France's commitment to sustainable development through the use of renewable energies. This project testifies, he said, "the desire to mobilize French expertise in the service of Haiti, particularly in the framework of enhanced regional cooperation." He congratulated also the actors of this agreement, who knew how to build a lasting partnership and beneficial to the process of decentralization.
