Haiti - Sports : Important change in Haiti, in the training of young footballers
Following the successes recorded by the Haitian national youth teams since the launch of the "Camp Nous" academy in 2012, in particular the numerous titles of Caribbean champions obtained by Haitian football, the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) is preparing to launch this month a project announced two years ago, namely an earlier management of the training of young footballers (7-12 years) through of Federal Academies from this month of October.

For several months a working group led by Gregory Chevry, member of the executive committee assisted by Patrick Massenat as coordinator and including educators, technicians, lawyers, doctors, sports leaders, work several times a week on the project in all its aspects in order to launch the academies in October 2018.

All the details about the first selected cities, the training of the educators of the choice of the heads of the academies, the curriculum of these institutions were analyzed. On the 30th of September, the first big meeting with the bridgeheads and the various leaders from everywhere to advance in the project, they were more than fifty came to work on this ambitious project which will take into account the aspect purely football, the pedagogical and social support to be provided to the young people of these schools, who will come from all social strata;

After the various presentations, Yves Jean Bart, President of the FHF, invited the participants to engage in an initiative that will radically change the future of Haitian football, which despite the delays of the State signatory of a contract with the FHF two years ago, will finally start thanks to the "FORWARD" project of FIFA.

The debates were passionate, ranging from the organization of the project, the recruitment method, the curriculum and the functioning of the academies which will also have to rely on the local authorities: mayors, parliamentarians and others to supervise young people in order to reach the objective of forming a new class of footballers "having the head and the legs" with a complete pedagogic acquis, allowing them to better apprehend the game but also to be able to envisage their conversion after their playing career.

Financially the project of Federal Academies/b> relies on the assistance of the "FORWARD" project which has already financed the first purchases: uniforms, balls and other sports equipment. Officials also rely heavily on the state that signed two years ago an agreement to this effect with the Federation and that involved the ministries of sports for part of the salary of educators and that of social affairs for nutritional support and food to young sportsmen through school canteens, that of the health for a medical follow-up of the young people and finally that of the education for the educational accompaniment of the young people.

The project also plans periodic inter-academic competitions for young people several times a year. The best of these young people from these academies will integrate the Camp Nou central in Port au Prince or other similar centers that will have to be developed in other cities of the country given the need to welcome more young people to train for a global market football that is growing and loaded with opportunity and that unfortunately Haiti does not exploit enough.

The official launch of the project will take place on October 19 in the 32 cities that will host the first institutions after the training of educators who will have to apply the same curriculum in all these academies. Very quickly the movement will spread to many more cities of the country.
