An official arrested for theft

Stevenson J. Thimoléon, the Director General of the Ministry of Planning informs that following police investigations into the theft of a check that occurred in 2017 to the accounting department of the Ministry, the suspected employee was arrested on October 26th outside the Ministry and laid off in accordance with the law.

The deficit beyond 20 billion Gourdes

Ronald Décembre, the Minister of Finance confirms that the budget deficit for the fiscal year 2017-2918 exceeds 20 billion gourdes and that this deficit will increase due to the devaluation of the Gourdes and the inadequacy of tax revenues compared to forecasts.

Words of the Mayor of Port-au-Prince

In his welcome speech at the 1st National Congress of the National Federation of Mayors of Haiti (FENAMH) the Mayor of Port-au-Prince Ralph Youri Chevry declared "[...] we must not hide that, the country lives in very difficult times. Tabling of Budget Proposal delayed

Contrary to what Ronald Décembre announced, the Minister of Economy and Finance, the draft budget 2018-2019 was not tabled this Wednesday, October 31 in Parliament. The document would not be finalized yet and consultations would continue with the relevant stakeholders.

French Embassy closed

The French Embassy in Haiti will be closed on 1st and 2nd November on the occasion of All Saints' Day & the Day of the Dead. Bòn Fèt Gédé!
