Haiti - FLASH : Message to the Nation of President Jovenel Moïse
Wednesday evening, after the Sunday demonstrations followed by 3 days of general strikes that paralyze the country, in a 6-minute message to the Nation pre-recorded in Creole broadcasted on the National Television of Haiti (TNH), President Jovenel Moïse accompanied by Prime Minister Jean-Henry Céant, Jean-Marie Reynaldo Brunet (Interior), Jean Roody Aly (Justice) and the High Command of the Haitian National Police, came out of 4 days of silence to affirm his legitimacy and call for respect for the Constitution and call for dialogue and calm.

While the opposition in the street demands his resignation, the Head of State recalled "It is within the framework of the democracy that the Haitian people elected me president in elections free and honest as the wish the Constitution [...] During the five years of my presidency, no one, I mean nobody, whatever the pretext, can not threaten the interests of the country or put the Nation in danger [...] The strength of any democracy, it is the respect of the law [...]"

He invited his political opponents to wait for the elections to take power, pointing out to his political opponents that democracy demands sacrifices and respect for the rules, reminding them that the political battle must be about ideas and dialogue and not violence in the streets "I asked the Prime Minister to meet people in all sectors and all tendencies..." and to make all the arrangements to ensure security lives and goods.

In his message, where he unequivocally reaffirmed his legitimacy at the helm of the State, he did not seek to restore the population's confidence or encourage it to resume the normal course of their activities, he did not say one word about the events of November 18th nor about strikes that paralyze the country, nor about the Petrocaribe dossier...

Note that the opposition has rejected the call for dialogue of the Head of State, continuing to demand his resignation and announces a new demonstration for Friday.
