Haiti - Politic : PM excludes to discuss the departure of President Moïse with the opposition

On Monday, Prime Minister Jean-Henry Céant said on the air of a radio that the violent demonstrations and a transitional government as conceived by the radical opposition, are not viable solutions to get the country out of the crisis.

He proposed to the opposition a dialogue between all sectors of national life leading to a political pact of governance, recalling that the population was exhausted of this situation of violence and paralysis of the economy "a country can not move in disorder, in violence. We should rather go to others, depolarize society, bring everyone together," and have as goal to strengthen democracy and not the other way around. An invitation to dialogue already rejected informally by the radical opposition.

However, the Prime Minister leaves no doubt on the limits of its opening with the radical opposition "the mandate of the President of the Republic, Jovenel Moïse, will not be on the table as part of the dialogue that the Government intends to initiate with the opposition.

The Head of Government said he had contacted some members of the democratic and popular radical opposition movement by phone and that formal correspondence would be sent to officials in the coming days.

The Prime Minister does not exclude a cabinet reshuffle if this is necessary to achieve political stability in the country, seeking above all to create a favorable environment for the holding of this dialogue.
