Yesterday Tuesday in Parliament, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Ronald Décembre, has tabled the draft budget law for fiscal year 2018-2019.

The draft budget amounts to 172.8 billion gourdes including 110 billion allocated to operating expenses and 62.8 billion to investments. The minister said that this bill is socially dominated with two components: social infrastructure and social appeasement to reach the most vulnerable segments of society, and that revenue forecasts are estimated at 114 billion gourdes, and that donations in budget support amounted to 28.9 billion.

Senate Speaker Joseph Lambert has promised that the relevant committees will get down to work quickly to scrutinize the document.

The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Gary Bodeau, has submitted the draft budget law for the year 2018-2019 to the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economy and Budget to study the text before the public session. He also recalled that the budget and the electoral law are on the menu of the last convocation to the extraordinary made by President Jovenel Moïse, giving the guarantee that the document will undergo a thorough analysis to ensure that the claims of the population are taken into account.
