Haiti - Politic : Evaluation of the provision of services and health care in the country

This preliminary report presents the preliminary results of the second 2017-2018 Health Services Benefit Assessment (EPSS-II), commissioned by the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) and carried out in Haiti in December 2017. May 2018 by the Haitian Institute of Childhood (IHE).

The purpose of this survey was to gather information on the delivery of health care services to assess the capacity of institutions to provide quality health care.

The survey was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the World Bank (WB) and the World Fund and has benefited from technical assistance from ICF International through the World Food Program. Demographic and Health Surveys.

The EPSS-II was designed to produce information on the overall supply of services by health institutions, on their ability to respond quickly to the provision of general and specific services as well as the quality of basic services. More specifically, the purpose of the survey is to provide reliable information on:

  • The availability of specific services such as maternal and child health, tuberculosis, malaria, sexually transmitted infections, HIV / AIDS and chronic diseases;

  • The availability of infrastructure, equipment and materials, as well as the availability of staff and components of the health system that contribute to the quality of services;

  • The existence of management practices that enhance the quality of services;

  • The level of adherence to quality service standards of providers who provide antenatal care or consultations for sick children and family planning

  • Customer appreciation of the services received.

The results of this evaluation will be used to design and improve interventions and services for the population. Given the preliminary nature of this report, the analysis of the data is limited to the presentation of certain key indicators and the format of certain tables is likely to change when the final report is published and will be published later.
