The 2019 National Carnival in Gonaïves

The city of Gonaïves will host this year the Carnival 2019 on March 3, 4 and 5, 2019 around the theme "Ann chita pale pour Ayiti" The 15 musical groups that will produce the best carnival meringue will participate in the parade of the 3 fat days at the city of independence announced Jean Michel Lapin, Minister of Culture. The country unable to feed itself without importing

Rice, black beans, corn and cooking oil are the most important food items for poor and middle-income households in Haiti. To date, all cooking oil is imported and imports of rice (cheaper than local rice) account for nearly 80% of national requirements. 50% of black beans and corn are also imported.

Closure of the US Embassy

Due to New Year's Eve, the United States Embassy in Haiti will be closed on Tuesday, January 1st (Haiti's New Year and Independence Day) and Wednesday, January 2nd (Family Day).
