Haiti - Security : 2 Haitians murdered in the border zone
On Monday around 6:30 am the dead bodies of two Haitians were discovered 260 meters from the border on the stretch of the Jimaní - Malpasse highway separating the Dominican Republic from Haiti. The Dominican Criminal Investigations Directorate (DICRIM) accompanied by a representative of the Public Ministry and a medical examiner went to the scene.

The two Haitian-born victims known as currency changer, were identified as Elio Petion and Andreson Sevil, both residing in the province of Independencia were murdered by unknown.

The medical examiner found multiple wounds on the bodies of both men causing death. A 9mm socket was found on the scene and a certain amount of money (the amount was not communicated) which suggests that the theft would not have been the reason for this double murder.

Both bodies were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for autopsy purposes.

A Dominican police source said an investigation was under way to establish the circumstances of these crimes and to identify and arrest the person or persons responsible for this double murder. A motorcycle taxi driver allegedly transporting the two victims is currently being questioned by the Dominican Police.
