In its latest report, the National Episcopal Justice and Peace Commission (CE/JILAP Jistis ak lapè), of the Roman Catholic Church in Haiti, considers the country's security situation catastrophic in 2018, setting a heavy partial assessment of 807 victims between January 1st and mid-December 2018...

Of these 807 victims, 604 were killed by firearms. According to Jocelyne Colas Noël, National Director of the Commission, this 2018 assessment is clearly superior to that of 2017, while underlining the horror experienced by the population during these 12 months.

An urgent appeal has been issued to the authorities to take the necessary measures to fight against insecurity and reduce acts of violence in Haiti.
