Haiti - Petit-Goâve : Lycée Faustin Soulouque closed, angry students demand reopening

On Monday, a group of teachers demanding the payment of salary arrears and the appointment of some of them, closed the main barrier as well as the doors of the Lycée Faustin Soulouque of Petit-Goâve posting on the wall of the Lycée their claims.

Very frustrated, the students forcibly opened the barrier and spontaneously organized a violent demonstration to demand the resumption of classes. The situation was really tense while benches on the public road prevented any traffic of vehicles.

Angry high school students threw stones at police officers who responded with throwing tear gas grenades. Barricades of burning tires were erected in front of the Lycée.

Following this tense situation and the climate of urban violence, some schools have preferred to send their students home for security reasons.
