The prevention and fight against violence in schools has been the focus of an important meeting between officials of the Ministry of Education and sector partners concerned with the problem of violence in schools, particularly UNICEF and Save the children https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26469-haiti-social-unacceptable-corporal-punishment-of-children-in-schools.html

Chaired by Jacques Yvon Pierre, Technical Coordinator of the Minister's Office, this meeting provided an update on the implementation of the School Code of Conduct to Combat School Violence, which is awaiting its popularization in schools, public and private to bring different actors to take action to counter violence in schools.

Following discussions around this Code and the project Action Against Violence In Haitian Schools (ACVEH), it was decided in particular:

• To transform the ACVEH project into a program that will be the subject of a major popularization campaign;

• Carry out a multi-sectoral workshop on the prevention and fight against violence in schools;

• To set up a Committee of 6 people to work, under the coordination of the General Direction of the Ministry, on the elements of orientation of the program and the terms of reference of the Workshop whose date has not been fixed yet ;

• To carry out a workshop of restitution of the existing tools with regard in particular to the Laws, the Code of conduct relating to the prevention and the fight against violence in the Haitian school.

Other working sessions should follow in the perspective of implementation of the resolutions adopted.
